Idea Notes

The ideas of the FMP was still thinking before the subject of the FMP was started at March, and it contained quite a lot of stories I wanted to tell for the audiences, or revamp some of the older projects to put some additional story in the projects to make it better from the original project, or character designs for specific games or series I had watched or played, which included with the poster designs afterwards.

Media.jpeg

There were a little less depths on thinking new ideas or genre for other audiences, yet I had the focused on specific genre that I had done for the past 3 years. There were a couple of revisits on the old ideas where I either change into the illustration book I an be creating, also getting through with the

Ideas

Idea lists

  1. Casual slice of life of objects when unnoticed

  2. Revamp the last FMP from animations to Illustration Book (D&D)
  3. Make a book of how characters were designed and changed over time + interactions on each other
  4. Fan-made character in a room (illustration book)

Idea summary

There were a couple of ideas I had in mind for FMP, even though no title had been dropped yet. I mainly focused on the characters I had created throughout and how to fit them into a new format and style, such as an illustration book or animation. The ratings for the mixed audience rating depend on how the characters were shown.

The first idea was about the slice of life illustration book about how the objects were capable to live in their lives before meeting someone, it was based on Date Everything (the game) and I knew 102 characters in the game, their appearances and in-depth personality, with the reflecting notes for "this is a fan-illustration project of a 17+ game", even though it will be 17+ to the audience, but there will be restrictions on some of the characters' behaviour or appearance, it was also for the appearances online. I attempt to adapt to other art styles I can, but I could have stuck with the style that Date Everything had, blending acrylic paint that suits some of the appearances.

The second idea was revamping the idea that I made last year, which was about the changing mind of arranged marriage, where there were a lot of plot holes in the animations that I had never done, which is why I wanted to add back those meetings on the characters, adding expressions for them in an illustration book form. The art style consists of the painting in the children's illustration book, mixed with the usual style I had on the animation.

The third idea was how the characters notice their change in their design through different pages of the illustration book, which also adds characters throughout the years, which had additional universes that were different from the original, which makes a lot of different appearances changes for the characters while meeting new ones, reuniting as the one whole group of people with different lifes despite not know much of each other. This can become a poster at the end of the book to show the outline of how the characters were changed. Even though the length will be at least 10 pages, I could have gone straight into the introduction for a short story of reunion.

The forth idea was about the fan-made characters in a room, it was a simple uniting to each other by "the creator" aka, me, which the story was focused on the last idea, like how they designed and developed into the final production, and also had to take up a great group before slipped back to the game that they were inserted in, the story was targeted on 13+ since there were mentions on games that wasn't targeted to children.

Overall, I am start thinking about the characters that will exist in the illustration book, and which had a lot of the time that had to made, from the concept art of the characters to the backgrounds I can make.

Theme for ideas

There were a lot of themes I had to choose on for me to thinking of different ideas that I can make for the final major project. Which set on different theme for create illustrations, animations, logos, or posters on different designing apps. I can connected them all together, or just had separated ideas.

  1. What If - thinking if I were different from what I was, which would have different parts appear in the surroundings.

  2. Living colour - colours that were references on the characters I had designed, collaborated with them and changed them into characters.

  3. Connect - how the character went through with the things that never seen before and kept attached to them and connected to them at last.

  4. Unite - there were changes in design from the start by the creator, and they gradually let them unite in one big poster when they were previously separated into different places and pages of the books.

  5. Protest - the protest against AI taking jobs from everyone or replacing people with cheaper options. Or some group of people protest against how the society turn away the newer generations to thrive like others did.

  6. Let there be light - Getting into the light when there was no hope in the mountain of dumps and had to climb up on the top, also going though with betrayal for that.

  7. Synthetic Self - The robot had inserted the human mind and had some time with the family ones more for a while before turn off ones more for leaving them. Taking their time for speak to everything that they had hidden in secret.

  8. The space between - There were about the characters were separated from the space of the experimenting from the scientist, and attempt to escape from the facility.

  9. Human error - Someone can make an error for leaving the door open and what happen was imaginable from the people in that universe complaints.

  10. Artificial Idols - a person involved with the virtual character that was controlled by someone else, who never met in real life. Or people who once looked up to a fictional mascot of a big company as youths, but as time went on, they changed their opinions because the company turned out to be.

  11. Fracture - The creature had been seriously fractured and attempts to find a doctor just for a crane and some medical attentions, but people mistaken it for one of the monster and had showed distance, even for his best friend trying to find one.

  12. Identity in Flux - The person going through with different part of the series or video games

  13. Inner strength - Focused on artists who looked down on their parents and people around, thought their flames and passion never fade. Despite society pushing them away from their dreams, they turn to the internet and share their stuff. It was parallel between musicians, traditional artist, and digital artist.

Ideas (What if...?)

Idea lists

  1. What if... fictional character I created became real life? (+concept art)

  2. What if... I choose a different career path and dream since youth?

  3. What if... I got one special item from all fiction, what could it be? (every age)

  4. What if... the future looks like what I had imagine as a kid, glossy and clean?

  5. What if... the future look like an old times?

  6. What if... I can get the all power pen and create character mid-air?

  7. What if... there are no religion or beliefs?

  8. What if... People focused more on science then religion?

  9. What if... Fantasy creatures became real?

  10. What if... Imagine friends can seen by others? (based on "IF" film plot)

  11. What if... People can made hybrid animals and let them reproduce without genetic consequences?

  12. What if... Society was the future people think in the 60s?

Idea summary - What If?

There was a bit of thinking about the theme of "What if...?" which involved considering various possibilities for the world that people can think of, such as certain types of people that never existed or certain events that never happened in history. People like to imagine the possibilities for the world. I did to myself for my decisions for the past years.

A couple of ideas were about how I could pursue different paths besides art, what if I had a different personality, or what if I hadn't been exposed to social media while growing up.

There were also ideas from what I had done with any of the video game stuff I had come across on social media, and I had got myself a couple more ideas for what if they are real? Or what if the video game items I can select for the rest of my life? Which can affect the rest of one's life every year. Or what if the original character that I created came to life? They can affect the world in a better place, or just descend into chaos more when the secrets that they had are exposed. Or what if I had the pen that creates character mid-air? Which a couple of shows or animations or kids book had done it, I wonder what if creative adults were in charge of the magical pen that create things in mind. The idea aligns with what if the original character came to life, so I resolved with both.

Also I had thought about the society, where what if fantasy creatures alive, imaginative friend can seen by others, making hybrid animals without genetic consequences, society focus more on sciences beside religion, all of which was an idea that can be mixed together into a huge title for the "What if...?" theme.

So I've just decided to use the original characters that I created over the years that came to life on the "What if... ?" FMP, with some extra things that were capable research, was the art style and format I inspired and put experimentation on characters while producing an Illustration book/comic for them.

Mindmap (What if...?)

The mindmap was made after the subject of the FMP was got on my hand, it filters quite a lot from the pervious ideas I written down on the note sheet, and also think of a new idea for the project in hand, which was about "What if...?" which had a lot of thinking considered it was a lot of possibility to be think around people.

This is the first idea that I had for the "What If...?" at the start of introduction for the Final Major Project, before the brief had been done, so this was my most though of how my characters react for being real? how they adapt the real world? Something was a bit off for the story middle and the end of it.

The newer version of mind map after the brief was to focused on commercials and the target audiences who will capable to commission me to do the design to illustrate a magazine. But with the same story that I kept goes for "What if the original character I created came to life?", just to change a bit of the advert posters as the testing on how the character can be a placeholder for advertisements to an older audiances.

Experiment Before actual production

3D model for characters and assets

There are some of the 360 screenshots are from the 3D design app name Shapr3D, it is an app that let me use the general shapes for making the characters mostly skeletons when need to make a model sheet and sprite for them, or objects that I am figure how I am make design when in a two dimensional animations for exploring an open world place for that. It is limited on the basic things like shapes and the editing tools for 3D object and screenshots, no fancy texture, no exporting files for saving, no additional then two files, so I use in one project file that is connect with the cloud saving.

Character sprites

IMG_2866.PNG
IMG_2871.PNG

The only character that I tested is Lykke, they had the most easy for their appearances even without the textures and the actual hair physics on them, so I recollect their appearances should be, so I shift with rectangle for their body and the cylinder for their limbs, the editing for each part was adjusted into a certain height for every part, and had the edige can be smoothed out from every inch for the character's overall for that.

Moodboard research collage.jpg

And doing their hair is a bit of the hassle since there are a lot of triangles and the circle cannot be a full circle since it can break the system of Shapr3D, and it is a rough shape where they can be shown for all four sides of the places, and there are no rest of the cast since I am testing the overall character shapes on the 3D environment and thinking how the things can work when putting in the situations for that.

Assets

Pixel Art (0nly for testing purpose)

There were a couple of the pixel art that I can tested in two free app, one is 'Pixil Art', another is 'Pixkel', both can let me make pixel art with ease in any situations when having the computer access with. It also helped me going for a test on making on animations of them without the issue on After Effect. And it won't be any of the final product for the pixel art since I conflicted for full illustrations of the characters.

First is 'Pixil Art', it had the basic functions of everything, layering, brushes, normal art stuff that I can draw, few issues was I can't control the imported images since it become so pixelated at point, but it is the thing when importing high quality art to the frame where it is a small character design. I then transferred to the 'Piskel' app website for improving the quality and the overall o the character.

Screenshot 2026-04-16 at 21.30.26.jpg

Second is 'Piskel', this was easier to be navigate on making sprite, it also with the layers and animations that I further to do on the character design. Takes me a while to realise that I can upload the png of the original character sprite that I had previously designed can upload on as the main sources of file, I then can make some of them even detailed then before.

Screenshot 2026-04-18 at 20.37.55.jpg
Screenshot 2026-04-19 at 00.06.47.jpg

At every character sprite making, I mainly focused on the character first after import from the original sprite sheet as PNG, saparate them as different part for easier to sorted out on the separate layer on Piskel, I focused on fixing up all the extras pixels around the character and what is in the colour, I also adding in the details that wasn't showed up on the character sprite, adding more details on the character all together with the lighting tool.

Pixel Character sprite Animations

Character sprite animation was needed for the saparaded from the original character sprite, copy and paste the important parts for easier moving on After Effects when I can import from the tablet to the PC save file of the whole series of test animations for that.

This is just a testing on animation testing for pixel animation on PixilArt since I had the account that access to be made. The result was simple for making two drawings, but this will be more complicating then to converting the characters into the pixel art of 128 x 128 pixel, since they have the inconsistencies for each side they have.

Take me a while for change my mind between pixel art and traditional art inspired from Axel Shuffler since these two can be mixed with.

Screenshot 2026-04-18 at 21.26.26.jpg

When separate them into different layer makes more easier task for me to make the animation, the first thing I am doing is the ideal animations of the characters, it may only using the arms and the body moving for the whole part of the animation. The whole ideal animations was the easiest part, but for the walking animations, it can take a bit more time for making the charcater.

A couple of testing character sprites were important for the variable on the character themselves, developing the better version from the previous ones on the pixel art with details, shadings, and some details that I had missed in the porductions.

This has a lot of the changes when adding the details and shading on one character at a time, also having the time with how they were place ine one place after placing the official art of the animations.

Cavalry

Cavalry is a free animate software app that has the similar functions and editing stuff from After Effects, this is the place I can animate sprites and had some of the movements when I work animations outside of college, where the parts I got are from the exported PNG images from the character from Photoshop (or Photopea as a free photo editing tool or Procreate, Procreate also let me export GIF for walk cycles).

I started with a circle to tested out for how useful is Cavalry, which I bounce it around the places, yet I had still figuring out how I animate a full scene with different characters since there are different component that are needed to be animated besides vector animations that some series or game does.

Then I did test on one character which is the lead character of the game, also adding a lot of the editing part of the animations that is similar to the scene that is in the

Final idea

  1. Idea: What if... Fictional characters I created come to life? Unite together with meet in one place, seen by family.

  2. Form: Illustration Book (Commercial illustration)

  3. Target Audience: PG13+

  4. Apps that need to use for project: basic paper for layout,Word document to sort story, Procreate for basic illustrations and planning, Photoshop for final touch

Project brief 1

The ultimate idea behind the theme "What If...?" is what if the fictional characters I created popped out from the canvas of my tablet, any past mistakes I had learnt from, came together to give me advice in real-time, serving as a reminder that I am making great progress and improvements. Additionally, they unite to getting through with hunt down.

The story of the idea bases from a bit of the story of “Pinocchio” with the great fairy gives the creation to life, who was a wooden puppet “Pinocchio”, which the story starts with the creator suffered from loneliness from isolations from people, also the constant mocking of the decisions of become an Illustrator/Digital artist that hit big on real life and online platform. She also thinks of how her characters came to life from the tablet and had the best experiences together.

Then, the creations, also known as the characters, popped out from the tablet with the great fairy, and let them live in the real world. Some escaped from the house through the tiny gaps in the window. First, they were confused about how they were made, questioning their existence. The creator heard the sound and looked around, scared that the place was haunted, but noticed her creations were alive and moving; some were unpolished, but mainly were existing.

She was ecstatic but still frightened by what happened to her characters. The first one that speaks is the first character I had ever drawn and sketched. Which had been a great idea for the creator, and the characters communicate if they are real or just characters in a canvas. Assigning them into different sections of places that were previously fictional and came real.

Adding there will be rumours that cover the sudden existence of non-existent creatures and people into existence after the morning in a town, which needs someone to fetch them to one place. The creator and her parents negotiated how to manage the characters that existed on the tablet, which showed surprise from their perspective since sometimes they ain't belive that the characters Grace had created for posters became real life.

There is a section of the story where I had no idea what to proceed the story, open the space for how characters primary objective to get use to out from the world of the digital space, like a different theme of comic strips and illustration book that associate with them, with the exceptions that they all watercolour drawn digitally, which I had to imagine the background for them with the blank space. Adding that their story were different from each other and had to twist and turns on the slice of life kind of way. It is also helped with the idea that I thought is like some art tutorials where the characters interacted with the artist from the drawing board and the audiences.

The form of the story will be taken as an illustrated book, and the target audience is PG13+, since there are some mentions of games that are targeted at older audiences. And the layout was focused between characters and the text, and they were quite aware that people reading the book sometimes looked directly at the audience through the pages, but never interacted with the main audience, a perfect nod to how they became real and aware of something outside the book.

To streamline the story and character focus, I prioritised a selection of the 20+ characters for illustration and narrative depth. This allowed me to give more context to those included, briefly mentioning others by name with snippets of their back of the book. The pages range from 5 to 10, focusing on central characters that I planned to exist. With more production time, I could expand and detail additional characters and their journeys.

Project brief 2

The top 10 ideas that I had thought of were about the character I created becoming real. What if I choose a different career path, which I have dreamed of since my youth? What if... I got one special item from all fiction. What could it be? What if... the future looks like what I had imagined as a kid, glossy and clean? What if... the future today looks like an old time? What if... Can I get the all-power pen and create a character mid-air? What if... Are there no religions or beliefs? What if... People focused more on science than religion? What if... Fantasy creatures became real? What if... Imagine friends can see by others? (based on the "IF" film plot)

Some ideas were from the internet browsers, from the point where there were some effects on society that were based on others' ideas; some ideas were as old as time, where I got the idea to pop out what if I can talk with the fictional character I created before.

The ultimate idea about the theme "What If...?" is what if fictional characters that I created popped out from the canvas of my tablet, form together giving advice to me in real time and a reminder that I am doing great in progressing and improvements. Also, at the same time, they unite for the better to improve every page. Getting through a pacifist route so as not to get a bad ending for trapping the character back to the art tablet.

The idea had been in my brain for forever, which had the most random plot ever, it also kind of revamp the project that I had done during 2024, which had the same cast that existed, adding the original characters that appeared in the years, had the storyline between Pinocchio and Undertale, always had something for the adventure.

The story of the idea is based on a bit of the story of “Pinocchio” with the great fairy giving the creation to life and figure how they work, adding the idea with the plot of Undertale let the creations to be free of bound without the limit, which is an adventure storytelling video game that allows people to decide which route they take.

The story starts with the sequal for the the creator suffering from loneliness due to isolation from people, as well as the constant mocking of their decision to become an Illustrator/Digital artist, which hit big in real life and on online platforms. She also thinks of how her characters came to life from the tablet and had the best experiences together.

Then, the creations, also known as the characters, popped out from the tablet with the great fairy after she had noticed the will of the creator wanted to interact with the original characters, and let the magic do the work and let the characters exist in the real world. Some escaped from the house through the tiny gaps in the window. The creator had jumped out of bed from the light of the tablet and noticed all her creations existed in the real world.

First, they were confused about how they were made, questioning their existence. Which had them resting for a moment till tomorrow to find out the situation. Which had lots of small casualties when facing others, more like a slice of life kind of way and adapting the new situations that the creator had face right now.

Adding with the original characters were aware that the creator had the ability to getting them back to the tablet, but the creator had spare them alive and not forever trapped them inside the tablet forever, making up a section of the story where there is a find for the rest of the characters that were escaped from a distance, finding teammates, and have casualties of being attacked with the sub-plot of the missing point of view of world perspective when times goes on, which the creator had loose her knowledge of surroundings despite her constant outing, which created certain scenes by other buildings, reimagine the places she familiar with. The last was where the great fairy had approved the ability of the creator and let the characters permanently exist forever. The background can slowly shift from reality to a fever dream sequences of complex buildings that collage together.

The form of the story will be taken as an illustrated book, and the target audience is PG13+, since there are some mentions of games that are targeted at older audiences. The art style of the illustration book was inspired from Axel Schefflar, mainly hand paint for the characters and art style.

I need to focus on the story and the characters’ appearances and scenes with their interactions. There are over 20 characters in the illustrated book. The story is kept short, so I mention some of their names within 5 to 10 pages. If I had more time, I could create a longer, more complex story with additional illustrations for the scenes. Which mainly sketched on the sketch book first for format layout for the illustration book, including some character design.

Final project brief

My top 10 ideas centre on the concept “What IF...?”: What if characters I created became real, and what would happen if my career or world followed my childhood dreams? Each idea asks a 'What if...' question: What if I could choose a new path, own a magical item, see a future as I had imagined, or even create characters with a magic pen? What if the world had no religions or fantasy creatures became real, or friends that others could see? These ideas all explore how imagination and fiction could shape reality.

There are ideas were from the internet browsers, from the point where there were some effects on society that were based on others' ideas; some ideas were obtained from animated shows or video games, and sometimes I found stories that were based on them with the internet access that I had at the time.

The ultimate final idea that I had about the theme "What If...?" was about what if all fictional characters I created existed in the universe. And it is an indie choose your adventure RPG, focus on turn base battles, finding a story for the characters when explore the place with the team. The title of the game is “ArtscapTale”, the combinations between the word “Art”, “Escape”, and “Tales”, it tells some ideas was from the need from the fictional characters to escaped from the world they live for with the help with the creator of them.

I got the idea from what everyone thought of, either from animated shows or films, video games, or illustrated books or comics. Including the artist who had original character, which is a matter since original characters can count as fictional characters, there were some CG or animated films and commercials that presented similar ideas that I have made. So, I take the idea from words from people online and make it into a story and make it possible.

The story serves as an indirect sequel to “The Book of My Creative Life”, and inspired from Undertale, Delterune, and Pinocchio. Which the story had been written, I had a couple of the changes for how I change the pace and the character representations.

For this game, I’m focus on character designs, environment illustrations, assets, title screen, and scenes. It is a choose your own adventure game, choosing your decisions to create 3 outcomes of the game, which putting into the book for define. The assets, character sprite and title screen can be animated during production, which are animated in 2s, it was a bit easier process on character default pose. Which is need is the consistencies for their overall when making character animations and the sprite sheet.

The target audience for the story is young teen to teen, range from 13 to 20, which mainly there are decisions that involved in mild violences and some suggestive theme in certain decisions. The client was targeted to any of the game industry to pick up my pitch of the indie game story.

The art and design directions are inspired by Axel Scheffler mixed with the 2000s design choice for posters, illustrations and game play photo. It also inspired from The Amazing World of Gumball’s mix media style on animations and art directions for the art style. I can experiment with pixel art on character sprite first, testing if the art style can make sense when put in the high-resolution place which was painted, then had the time for make artwork feels like pixel art in far away.

the story showing how Grace continues as a digital artist, continue production for the character sheet in the important part of the. And the story proceeds like normal, which let her to question herself “what if the characters she created came to life?”.

Which the wish came true as the wish from the star let the Great Fairy of Life to get all the characters in life from the tablet, given time for introductions with the addition for the tablet with the choice of either spare or delete people you will face, which can a huge impact the diverse the story.

The illustrations were only shown as slideshow for the startup screen of the game when open the game, and the background was also illustrated into detailed at best.

And the story goes with the player, have decisions for either decide between spare or delete them in different area for the entirely of the game, involving side quests for characters to interacted with and had the great time, which drastically differences depending on the routes and decisions. It can be also affected for the character’s overview to Grace, which had impact from the three main ending of Pacifist, Neutral, and Genocide.

The Pacifist was mainly no kill for the whole story, the neutral route had some requirement for kill some small characters and two bosses; the genocide route had you to kill all, never back down from everything.

At the end, the teammate and the Great Fairy of Life got the last if the player going on the route they are running, she can spare them, despite there is a section where Null going to try to obliterate the plan, let every characters existed forever and had this fairytale ending, or get them exist, but they had some distrust on Grace because how you control her to delete their close ones [only for neutral if you delete some of the important boss], or Grace loss control of her own, leaving the player to either spare or obliterate The Great Fairy of Life.

This also included with The Null, who is the character from the last book I had, name is Glinix, which had the final back up for Grace for beating the game for the first time. She served as the character that had controls Grace for decisions making, which make the last character to either delete or spare Grace depends on the ending.

There is some degree for thinking some design the in game overall for how the proper platform designs and assets, character sheets after I finish the original design of the character first to match the game scene, with the decisions to make the outcome for the end of the story with the change on characters.

Idea Pitch

The pitch for this project was about what if the characters I created existed. The story, based on Pinocchio, which goes through a series of characters I created, came to life, uniting them to either spare or delete them out of existence, even though some appearances of the characters are feared by many. Also, it was then reworked into a choice-based role-play game after the introduction of inspirations from Undertale, adding character customisations, which were based on movie or series-based video games.

The original story format was meant to be a traditional illustration book, but as I considered how to promote the product, I decided to use video game-style illustration advertisements, incorporating some photo editing to place characters into real-world settings. This supports the theme of "what if the fictional character I created existed in the real world?" The concept art is around the video game concept art.

The target audience is focused on teens because of the mention of games that weren’t for children, and the story is PG13+ just for the story alone.

The slide has mostly on what is the idea, what inspires the idea, what characters and locations happens, the story, like that. I had some way to explain the LGBT stuff since it is subtle ways to say, and one of the main cast is non-binary and I had to explain from the questions.

Question

How do you show the LGBTQ+ in game? there are two trans people and a couple of bisexual people in this place, they are subtle in the story. One is non-binary who is part of the main cast, name was Lykke

How do you design characters in the game? I typically reuse the existed fictional characters already in my rosters, and the new ones Inspirations from random objects, mythical creatures, and someone with powers.

Need to change and improvise

The sprite changed from pixel art to a detail art since pixel art is a square over square, but the background and most of the characters are too detailed for the pixel art to be done, I may use the detail character and background for small animations.

And I am targeting on the
